This Forest School is tailored to older children who want to engage in more focused outdoor activities with their own peer group.
Willow Hill is 4 acres of beautiful, private woodland in Tulla where children aged 8-12 are free to explore, take supported risks, and follow their own interests. They can build shelters, tackle rope challenges, create woodland crafts, improvise with music and rhythm, light fires, cook over the campfire, or simply spend time relaxing in the hammocks.
Guided by Forest School principles, the woodland provides a safe and inspiring space where children can develop confidence, resilience, practical skills, friendships and a lasting connection with the natural world.
Veronica McGuire is the founder of Badger & Blackbird Forest School and has been delivering Forest School for over 10 years. She works with schools as a Heritage in Schools specialist, and runs her own sessions at weekends throughout the year.
“I love nurturing a sense of belonging and connection – both with the woodland and with one another – in every group I work with. As we become comfortable in the woods, our senses naturally open, inviting us to slow down, explore and discover the endless wonders of the natural world.”
Michael McGuire of Drum Circle Percussion Workshops has been teaching percussion to children for more than 25 years. He brings rhythm and sound into the woods in a playful yet thoughtful way, making it an integral part of our Forest School sessions.
